CCDN conduct “Stop GBV and Child Marriages” car rally roadshow

    By Jill Mangachena- CHITUNGWIZA Community Development Network (CCDN) is conducting a campaign around Chitungwiza tomorrow Saturday 26 November 2016 in commemoration of the 16 days of activism against gender based violence (GBV).

    CCDN’s theme for this year’s campaign is raising awareness of the Domestic Violence Act chapter 5:16 and the Landmark Constitutional Judgement on Child and Forced Marriages. The two progressive legal pieces have advanced women’s rights significantly.

    CCDN’s Gender Officer, Margret Chogugudza said: “The campaign aims at raising awareness among Chitungwiza residents and the citizens of Zimbabwe at large about the landmark constitutional judgement on child and forced marriages of January 2016 and the Domestic violence act which carries heavy penalties for offenders as a deterrent”.

    The car rally roadshow will be moving around the whole town of Chitungwiza to enable residents to access information and interact with Gender activists”.

    The campaign will commence at Makoni Shopping Centre at 0900 and end at St Mary’s Chigovanyika Shopping Centre at 1600 after passing through Unit L, Town centre,Zengeza 4 , Zengeza 3, Zengeza 2 and St. Marys shopping centres. The main stopping area being Zengeza 2 Shopping Centre at 1300.

    The nation of Zimbabwe commemorates 16 days of activism against gender based violence every year to help in the fight against domestic violence and gender based violence.
